Project Amal ou Salam sponsors several learning centres in refugee areas in Jordan and Turkey, and fully funds a learning centre in northern Jordan.
Amal ou Salam School in Ajloun
In October 2019, with the help of our amazing supporters, Project Amal ou Salam opened a new school center in Ajloun, Jordan to meet the needs of local Syrian children and their families. At this center, we focus on early childhood education, preparing the youngest members of the Syrian community with the tools they’ll need to succeed in the Jordanian schools. The school currently serves 65 children, ages 5-8 years old, and is staffed by 3 full-time teachers, all from Syria. Learn more.
Amal ou Salam School in Jerash
There’s nothing more rewarding than fulfilling one’s mission and moving on to new adventures!
The mission of our school in Jerash was to help all the Syrian kids in the area catch up on their studies and enroll in the Jordanian schools.
We’re proud to say that we accomplished our mission in 2019. By now, some of our former students are studying in university and have become Project Amal ou Salam next generation of volunteers!
We have closed our centre in Jerash and moved on to a different area to reach more Syrian children and their families.
The Amal ou Salam school was located in a rural area outside of Jerash, Jordan, and had the capacity to serve 60 children. The school played an important role by filling a gap in the education system: Syrian children were usually unprepared to join their Jordanian peers in the public schools. The Amal ou Salam’s team worked with Syrian kids to make sure they were adequately prepared to start school. Most Syrian children who are living as refugees in Jordan have been out of school for several years and need significant catch-up time and individualized attention to make up for the hundreds of hours of class time they have missed out on.
Over the past few years, Amal ou Salam has successfully been able to enroll several dozens students in the Jordanian public schools. We are proud of their accomplishments and excited to welcome even more students as we expand to new areas to reach more Syrian children in Northern Jordan.
Our centre in Jordan has become a gathering place for the local community, not only Syrians but also Jordanian enjoy the safe and peaceful environment of our school.
